THE ORIGINAL ROLLER DOOR (Click to view)
PLEASE ENSURE YOU FULLY READ THIS 'MEASURING GUIDE' BEFORE PLACING AN ORDER
This is a made-to-measure door, once manufactured, cancellations or returns are not accepted.
This single skin roller door can only be fitted BEHIND the structural opening. It can’t be fitted in-between the framework/brickwork. It requires additional space either side of the guides for the steel fixing lugs and protruding barrel.
These steel single skin roller doors are ordered by the actual overall guide width (excluding fixing lugs). The ordering height is the guide height, ideally the height from the floor to the underside of the RSJ/lintel (the curtain roll sits above the guides). Ensure there is sufficient side and headroom for the chosen model and size.
By virtue of their construction roller doors require space above the lintel to conceal the rolled up section of the door. If recommended headroom is not available the door may still be installed, however some loss of opening height will occur and the roll of the door will be visible (this could be disguised with a fascia).
The headroom clearance required (i.e. from the lowest point of the ceiling to the top of the opening) is as follows:
OPENING HEIGHT up to 2135mm HEADROOM REQUIRED 420mm
OPENING HEIGHT up to 2440mm HEADROOM REQUIRED 450mm
OPENING HEIGHT up to 2740mm HEADROOM REQUIRED 480mm
OPENING HEIGHT up to 3055mm HEADROOM REQUIRED 520mm
If the headroom is minimal then a MINI ROLL would be a better option.
Sideroom clearance required is 75mm each side for single size domestic doors, 150mm each side for double size doors, with an extra 25mm required on the motor side if automation was selected.
Measuring the Height for ordering:
- The Ordering Height refers to the height of the steel side guides NOT including the curtain roll above this height.
Measuring the Width for ordering:
-
The Ordering Width for a single skin door refers to the full width of the curtain required plus the width of the guides. 50mm (2x 25mm guides) for doors up to 3450mm and 100mm (2x 50mm guides) for doors over 3450mm.
E.g. If the structural opening is 2200mm wide and 2150mm high, the Ordering Size should be at least 2250mm width (50mm extra for the guides) and 2150mm height. If you have more space available behind the side of the door it is always best to order a door up to 100mm wider than required. It will mean the guides will be totally hidden when viewing from the outside looking in. Having a wider door set behind the reveal can increase the weather protection, security and overall aesthetics of the door.
Every roller door will have a small section of the curtain hanging down slightly when fully open, usually about 50mm, so if you do require the full drive through height when the door is open and you have sufficient headroom, then add on another 50mm or more to the ordering height to take the door curtain higher internally.
Fitting BEHIND the reveal brickwork:
Measure the structural opening of the garage door, take the width measurement in 3 places, across the top, middle and bottom, take the widest dimension. Then add the width of the guides (50mm for doors up to 3450mm wide and 100mm for doors over 3450mm wide). This should be your ordering width.
Then measure the height from the floor to the underside of the lintel. If you have enough headroom above the lintel (between the lintel and the ceiling 420-520mm depending on height), this would be classed as the ‘guide height’ (ordering height).
If you don’t have the required headroom between the lintel and ceiling, you can still order the door but the drive through height would be reduced. In this instance measure the height from the floor to the ceiling in a few places taking the shortest measurement. Then minus 420-520mm depending on the height. This would be your guide height (ordering height).
THE MINI ROLLER DOOR (Click to view)
PLEASE ENSURE YOU FULLY READ THIS 'MEASURING GUIDE' BEFORE PLACING AN ORDER
This is a made-to-measure door, once manufactured, cancellations or returns are not accepted.

Ensure there is sufficient side and headroom for the chosen model.
Gliderol single skin roller doors by virtue of their construction require space above the lintel to conceal the rolled up section of the door. If headroom clearance is minimal then this MINI roll is a great option. The headroom required for a mini roll is 340mm. If the recommended headroom is not available the door may still be installed, however some loss of opening height will occur and the roll of the door will be visible (this could be disguised with a fascia).
Sideroom clearance required is 75mm each side with an extra 100mm, making 175mm in total on the side where the motor is fitted (if automation was selected).
Measuring the Height for ordering:
-
The Ordering Height refers to the height of the steel side guides NOT including the curtain roll above this height.
Measuring the Width for ordering:
-
The Ordering Width for a single skin door refers to the full width of the curtain required plus the width of the guides. 50mm (2x 25mm guides) for doors up to 3450mm
E.g. If the structural opening is 2200mm wide and 2150mm high, the Ordering Size should be at least 2250mm width (50mm extra for the guides) and 2150mm height. Fitting BEHIND the reveal brickwork:
Measure the structural opening of the garage door, take the width measurement in 3 places, across the top, middle and bottom, take the widest dimension. Add 50mm for the width of the guides. This should be your ordering width.
Then measure the height from the floor to the underside of the lintel. If you have enough headroom (340mm) between the lintel and the ceiling, this would be classed as the ‘guide height’ (ordering height).
If you don’t have 340mm headroom between the lintel and ceiling, you can still order the door but the drive through height would be reduced. In this instance measure the height from the floor to the ceiling in a few places taking the shortest measurement. Then minus 340mm for the curtain roll. This would be your guide height (ordering height).

By virtue of their construction industrial roller doors require space above the lintel to conceal the rolled up section of the door. The headroom clearance required is as follows:
OPENING HEIGHT Chain operated up to 2400mm HEADROOM REQUIRED 460mm
OPENING HEIGHT Chain operated up to 3000mm HEADROOM REQUIRED 490mm
OPENING HEIGHT Chain operated up to 5000mm HEADROOM REQUIRED 530mm
Sideroom clearance required is 150mm each side for industrial doors, 225mm at the side where the chain is situated plus an extra 25mm required if a motor is to be fitted (250mm).
Measuring the Height for ordering:
-
The Ordering Height refers to the height of the steel side guides NOT including the curtain roll above this height.
Measuring the Width for ordering:
-
The Ordering Width for a light industrial door refers to the full width of the curtain required plus the width of the guides. 100mm (2x 50mm guides) for doors up to 5000mm
E.g. If the structural opening is 2900mm wide and 3000mm high, the Ordering Size should be at least 3000mm width (100mm extra for the guides) and 3000mm high. If you have more space available behind the side of the door it is always best to order a door up to 100mm wider than required. Insulated Roller Door -77mm Lath (click to view)
PLEASE ENSURE YOU FULLY READ THIS 'MEASURING GUIDE' BEFORE PLACING AN ORDER
This is a made-to-measure door, once manufactured, cancellations or returns are not accepted.
You can install an Insulated Roller Garage Door door either in-between the garage brickwork or behind the reveal. The design of this type of door means the width is the same all the way from bottom of the guides to top of the endplates (box) which sits in line with the outer edge of the guides.
Gliderol insulated roller doors by virtue of their construction require space above the lintel to conceal the rolled up section of the door. The headroom required is 300mm. If the recommended headroom is not available this door may still be installed, however some loss of opening height will occur and the roll of the door (or Half Box / Full Box if selected) will be visible.
Measuring the Height for ordering:
-
The Ordering Height refers to the height of the side guides NOT including the Curtain Roll/Box above this height.
Measuring the Width for ordering:
-
The Ordering Width for insulated roller doors refers to the full width of the curtain required plus the width of the guides.
-
140mm (2x 70mm guides) for doors up to 3500mm wide.
-
180mm (2x 90mm guides) for doors over 3500mm wide.
Fitting IN-BETWEEN the reveal brickwork:
Measure the structural opening of the garage door, take the width measurement in 3 places, across the top, middle and bottom. You should use the shortest measurement then take a little more off to allow for fitting tolerance (usually about 15mm). This would be your ordering width.
Then measure the height from the floor to the underside of the lintel in 3 places taking the shortest measurement. Then minus 300mm for the box and minus an extra 10mm or so for fitting tolerance. This would be your ordering height.
Fitting BEHIND the reveal brickwork:
Measure the structural opening of the garage door, take the width measurement in 3 places, across the top, middle and bottom, take the widest dimension. Then add the width of the guides (140mm for doors up to 3500mm wide and 180mm for doors over 3500mm wide). This should be your ordering width. If you want part of the guides to be visible on the outside of the door simply reduce the ordering width accordingly.
Then measure the height from the floor to the underside of the lintel. If you have enough headroom above the lintel, between the lintel and the ceiling (300mm), this would be classed as the ‘guide height’ (ordering height).
If you don’t have at least 300mm headroom between the lintel and ceiling for the box, you can still order the door but the drive through height would be reduced. In this instance measure the height from the floor to the ceiling in a few places taking the shortest measurement. Then minus 300mm for the box and an extra 10mm or so for fitting tolerance. This would be your ordering height.

Sectional Door (click to veiw)
PLEASE ENSURE YOU FULLY READ THIS SECTIONAL DOOR 'MEASURING GUIDE' BEFORE PLACING AN ORDER. This is a made-to-measure door, once manufactured, cancellations or returns are not accepted.
Most sectional doors are designed to be fitted behind the reveal (face fit). However if that is not possible or you are wanting to maximise the internal space within the garage you can fit the door in between the reveal.
A sectional door will come into the garage a lot further than a standard up & over door. It’s important to have enough space along the ceiling for the door to retract back into the garage. You generally need to allow for the full height of the door plus an extra 600mm. You also need to check for obstructions to the horizontal tracks which the door will open on like a gas meter, electric box or side retaining walls. The central boom which connects to the operator is generally 3300 mm in length.
You can install a sectional Garage Door door either in-between the garage brickwork or behind the reveal.
Whether you are fitting the door behind or in-between the opening, you will still need to measure the structural opening.
Most doors come with side tension springs and require 125mm headroom above the door panels for the frame, boom and operator. The top frame is 100mm.
Fitting BEHIND the reveal brickwork (face fit):
Width - Measure the structural opening, take the width measurement in 3 places, across the top, middle and bottom, take the widest dimension. This should be your ordering width. The frame will fit behind the garage reveal. If you want part of the frame to be visible on the outside of the door simply reduce the ordering width accordingly (although this will reduce your drive-through width).
Height - Measure the height from the floor to the underside of the lintel in 3 places. Take the widest measurement. This should be your ordering height. The top frame will fit behind, you will need at least 125mm for the frame, boom and operator (for side tension spring doors). If you want part of the frame to be visible on the outside of the door simply reduce the ordering height accordingly (although this will reduce your drive-through height).
The minimum side room required for a behind-fit is 85mm behind the reveal.
Facefit (standard behind the reveal)
Fitting IN-BETWEEN the reveal brickwork:
Width - Measure the width, take the width measurement in 3 places, across the top, middle and bottom. Make a note of the shortest measurement, this is the measurement we require. We will take off 180mm deduction to allow for the frame profile legs (90mm x2) and send you drawings to approve.
Height - Measure the height from the floor to the underside of the lintel in 3 places taking the shortest measurement. This is the measurement we require as long as you have at least 25mm of headroom above the lintel for the boom. If you have no headroom for automated doors you should deduct at least 25mm from the height. This deduction is to allow for the boom to fit above the frame and underneath the lintel. We take off 100mm to allow for the frame top and send you drawings to approve.
If you have no headroom you will need to purchase an additional UPVC trim to cover the space above the frame and the lintel where the boom is fitted. Colour matched trims can be purchased from most DIY stores.
When fitting in between you must use the correct reveal fitting brackets (supplied if in-between fit is selected).
Springs and headroom requirement
Sectional doors can have either Side Tension springs, Front Torsion springs or Rear Low Headroom torsion springs. The most popular and preferred option for installers in the UK is Side Tension springs. The type of springs you get depends on the size and type of sectional door (standard panel or panoramic).
Note: Doors with front torsion springs, including all doors over 5000mm wide require 300mm headroom
Up & Over Doors (click to veiw)

The fixed sizes on the website refer to the overall door size including the frame.
Example
2234mm (W) x 2184mm (H), would mean the door leaf is 2134mm x 2134mm (7’x7’), plus a frame of 50mm each side and 50mm across the top. See example table below.
| Door Leaf Size in Inches | v | Over Frame size in Millimetres | Door Leaf Size in Inches | v | Over Frame size in Millimetres | |
| 6'6 x 6'4" | = | 2081 x 1980 | 7'6" x 6'6" | = | 2386 x 2031 | |
| 6'6" x 6'6" | = | 2081 x 2031 | 7'6" x 7'0" | = | 2386 x 2184 | |
| 6'6" x 7'0" | = | 2081 x 2184 | 8'0" x 6'4" | = | 2538 x 1980 | |
| 6'10" x 6'4" | = | 2183 x 1980 | 8'0" x 6'6" | = | 2538 x 2031 | |

| 7'0" x 6'4" | = | 2234 x 1980 | 9'0" x 6'6" | = | 2844 x 2031 | |
| 7'0" x 6'6" | = | 2234 x 2031 | 9'0" x 7'0" | = | 2844 x 2184 | |
| 7'0" x 7'0" | = | 2234 x 2184 | 10'0" x 6'6" | = | 3148 x 2031 | |
| 7'6" x 6'4" | = | 2386 x 1980 | 10'0" x 7'0" | = | 3148 x 2184 |
Fitting IN-BETWEEN the reveal brickwork:
Width - Measure the width of the structural opening, take the width measurement in 3 places, across the top, middle and bottom. You should use the shortest measurement, then take a little more off to allow for fitting tolerance (usually about 15mm).
Height - Measure the structural opening height from the floor to the underside of the lintel in 3 places taking the shortest measurement. Then take a little more off to allow for fitting tolerance (usually about 10mm).
Fitting BEHIND the reveal brickwork:
If installing BEHIND the opening then you have a little more flexibility with your order size. You just need to ensure your garage door leaf is smaller than the opening size, so it will pass through the structural opening.

Measure the structural opening of the garage door, take the width measurement in 3 places, across the top, middle and bottom and the height in 3 places. If fitting in-between you should use the shortest measurement for both width and height and then take a little more off to allow for fitting tolerance. Usually 20mm off the width (2x 10mm each side) and 10mm off the height.
Entrance Door (click to view)
PLEASE ENSURE YOU FULLY READ THIS 'MEASURING GUIDE' BEFORE PLACING AN ORDER! This is a made-to-order door, once manufactured, cancellations or returns are not accepted.
Entrance doors are supplied with a pre-assembled frame so the measurements you supply will be for the total width and height required including the frame, the sill, and any frame extenders/add-ons.
Measure the external structural opening, take the width measurement in 3 places, across the top, middle and bottom and the height in 3 places. You should use the shortest measurement for both width and height and then take a little more off to allow for fitting tolerance. Usually 20mm off the width (2x 10mm each side) and 10mm off the height. This is the size you should order.
Height (red) - measure from the underside of the sill to the top of the brickwork and note the shortest measurement. Sill is 30mm deep.
Width (green) - measure from brick to brick and note the shortest measurement.
Diagonal measurement (blue in top image) - Ensure the opening is square by measuring the diagonals as shown in blue. There shouldn’t be more than 5mm difference between each measurement. If there is more than 5mm difference you may need to allow for a bit more fitting tolerance.
Frame extenders / add-ons (Do you need them?)
Measure the inside internal door sizes as you did from the outside. Internal measurements are usually less due to internal plaster. See image below.
The hinges start 25mm from the edge of the frame. If your internal frame width is more than 70mm shorter (35mm each side) than the external tight brick to brick measurement you will likely need a frame extender so your hinges avoid the internal plaster. 70mm = 2x25mm from the edge of the frame to the hinges plus a fitting tolerance of 20mm.
E.g If your external brick to brick width is 1000mm and your internal width is 910mm (90mm shorter).
You would order the door 980mm to allow for 20mm fitting tolerance (10mm each side).
This means you have a 70mm (35mm each side) difference between the internal measurement of 910mm and the door you have ordered of 980mm. In that instance you would need to buy a frame extender to push the door so the hinge doesn't foul the plaster as per the image below.
If your internal measurement is more than 50mm shorter than the door you will need a frame extender.
